June Martin MBE
June Cynthia Martin MBE (nee Bedford) passed away at home on 3rd July 2020.
A former pharmacist who was co-founder of Ascot District Day Centre (1970s), involved from the start with Ascot Volunteer Bureau (1980s), and founder (and until recently organiser) of Saturday Day Care Plus, June drew from her experiences caring for others to transform services in the local community.
A Paul Harris Fellow and recipient of the Margarette Golding award - both prestigious honours - she leaves behind her daughter, Vicki, and little dog, Ellie (who will continue to be cared for and loved by Alison Pryce, in Ascot). Since November 2019 she had been looked after at home by Catherine Rawlinson who became a close friend and to whom family are grateful. No doubt she will now be reunited with husband, Bernard Keat (d2003).
Donations in lieu of flowers please. Invitation-only funeral with restricted numbers because of COVID-19. A remembrance service is anticipated in future and details will be posted both here and on www.vickimartin.co.uk/june
